Before Covid, my income was roughly divided between writing and selling crafts I make from recycled material. You have no idea how difficult this concept was for some people to accept. If it didn't look shiny and new, if it wasn't made of cheap plastic, then something had to be wrong. Two thirds of the artists that worked along side me folded under competition from cheap imports, and that was before Covid. Cheap was the thing in which people found most value.
