I think you will be amazed at how quickly people start to ignore this. Humans are experts at turning away from problems that are not an immediate threat to themselves. Those that are affected will re-evaluate but others will find excuses for what is happening rather than make changes that are uncomfortable in any way. Until the White House and Westminster start to get wet feet all talk of change will remain just talk.
