In her excellent book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, Barbara Kingsolver recommends having enough supplies for a month. I went at it for a while but in the end, it just wasn’t practical or I wasn’t dedicated enough. I’m keeping a close eye on my neighbour's chickens and if the zombies arrive I’m popping over the wall as quick as a flash.
