Jessica, I have to admit a bias here as I make half my income making crafts which I sell at galleries and markets. That said, supporting local artists is really important. It keeps money in the local community and it encourages skills that are rapidly becoming victims to mass-produced products with no environmental ethic. We all need to change our buying habits if we are going to take power away from big industry.
